We do drive quite efficiently, the majority of the time. On 6+ hour road trips, though, the time does add up. We're compromising speed/time, efficiency, and safety. 60 mph on a long trip is a no-go. Our time is worth money. 70 mph is the speed limit of many interstates, also (or higher), so we're not actually "speeding" even!
Local/short trips - yeah, slowing down makes sense.

Oh, I feel you. That's why when I'm doing 1,000+ miles I try to average at least 70 mph (including bathroom and meal breaks). That usually means doing about 80, which is only 5-over in most of the western US. Even at those speeds going over the Rockies I averaged 48 mpg in my PiP.

I usually set the cruise for 85 for 50 miles of my trip and I usually average a little over 50mpg on my 2020

The first time hwy driving on my 2020 PP LE. 266.6 miles all on HV mode. Except for the first ~30miles to get to the interstate, which had short segments of in-town drive, most of the drive was on cruise set at 70mph. Not as good of mpg as I have seen on my previous trips on hwy with 2017 PP, but still good enough to match the EPA rating 54mpg, considering ~7% off for the real mpg.

To update on HV-only mpg on my 2020 Prius Prime. I filled the tank before starting the trip and reset the trip B. The travel was mostly on interstate ~70mph, but had some slower segments and ~20miles of in-city congested traffic at less than 30mph that was driven by EV. I had a full charge, but did not use any on my trip to the city, and used about 10 miles of EV range in the city. I had the unused portion of EV range when I refueled on my way back.

By three different methods, mpg on the dash is ~7% optimistic. The DTE on a full tank method is in good agreement with the mpg on the dash considering it includes ~10miles of EV mode drive.

by full-tank methd: 55.59mpg=470.8miles/8.469gal 54.32mpg adjusted for 10miles EV mode
    DTE method: 58.06mpg=540miles/9.3gal
    car dash: 59.5mpg

I was really interested in HV mileage and EV mileage when I got my 2018 Prime. Easy way to get HV mileage is to punch the HV button when you are on a trip every time the car starts so you DON'T use EV at all then track your gas purchases. Who wants to sit 2 hours to charge every 30 miles. (First long trip--1100miles--I used 16.626 gallons so just over 66 mpg.) Around home, I use EV only--unless I exceed the 36 to 38 mile charge range--and use a Poniie PN-2000 watt meter to accurately measure the charging kWh after each trip to compute with mileage. (The car reports 5 to 15 % high so isn't trustworthy except as an estimate.) With a few exceptions, I get 5 to 6 miles per kWh.

The best metnod in my opinion is with the help of Hybrid Assistant. This is what I got for a 221 km drive back in October

The odometer seems to overestimate it by about 5 mpg. Also, don't forget to subtract miles for the SOC usage. I subtract 0.33 miles for every 1% of SOC used. I seem to have a lifetime average of about 67 mpg after doing that according to the gasoline-fill-up data.
