Friends: 0 | Yesterday, I was bragging about my TOTALLY trouble free 06, @ 70,000 miles. Today, 70+ mph in the HOV lane, ding, all manner of warning lights, including the dreaded red triangle of death! I got off the freeway, everything looked OK, no leaks, smoke or other means of excitement. I drove less than 2 miles to Pasadena Toyota, and dropped the car off. The service rep just called, and said the inverter collant pump needs to be replaced. I said "that doesn't sound good ($$$$)". He daid the three sweetest words I know, "covered by warranty". Whew, I guess the extended warranty was worth something after all. I was thinking I wouldn't need it before it expired. Anybody else see inverter coolant pump failures about this mileage? It gave no visible signs of trouble, no leaks, smells, etc. Brag not, lest ye get the red triangle of death!

Friends: 18 | The inverter coolant pump is one of the weak points. Yours is not the first to fail. Tom |

Friends: 0 | Wouldn't that be covered under the 8/100,000 warranty? Inverter is part of the Hybrid system, and it can't run without the inveerter coolant pump. My understanding was that the extension was for all hybrid relared parts? |

Friends: 0 | My inverter coolant pump quit just as I was accelerating to get on the freeway. The dealer said that the mechanical pump was leaking too. Since I'm way out of warranty with 135,000 miles on my 04 it cost $1,000 for parts and labor. |
