Hmmmm. We should lobby our state governments to allow hybrid drivers to carry (and authorization to use when necessary) concealed weapons.
We can save the planet one aggressive SUV driver at a time.

I could have written the same article with the title: "Souped up cars with really loud mufflers and stereos you can hear three blocks away really really piss off other drivers"

When will see see regulations actually passed and enforced that will allow me to hear my own stereo in my own car with my windows rolled up?

If I have to tolerate their stereo, they get to tolerate my driving.

In Ohio we can carry a concealed weapon.

My other auto is a 9mm and a .380.

Hey, if i'm doing the speed limit and not doing anything wrong and some jerk off wants to rear end me or something or cut me off..let them, and if they hit me, hello lawyers and negligence lawsuit in civil court. That happened to my friends' uncle. He was just driving next to a semi and someone was weaving through traffic, slammed him from behind going about 75 while he was doing 65...his car was totaled and he was a little hurt but this guy had no regrets even in court, he said he should have been going faster and the whole thing could've been avoided....

How did the case turn out? What kind of penalty did the jerk get?

Well, the guy got a nice bunch of tickets. He paid the medical fees and all related court expenses. I think they got some monetary sum from it all but i never asked that.

sdtundra, In CA, on the freeway, the right lane is the slow lane and the left lane is that fast lane. When I'm driving home from somewhere, I chill out in the right lane with the slow drivers. When I'm late to get somewhere, I drive with the [fast] flow in the left lane. Every once in a while, some jerk doing 65 ends up in the left lane. What happens? It ain't pretty. Before the "fuel crisis," the CHP literally used to write those people tickets for going a speed significantly different from the flow of traffic; creating a safety hazard. I have a friend in the CHP. I know they used to do that. The social dynamics of the left lane have not changed; the speeds have changed, but not the "you don't belong in the left lane! get out of the way!" mentality. In summary, the right lane is the slow lane and the left lane is the fast lane. Be courteous to other drivers!

I was thinking about this and realized that depending upon direction,
you were seeing either my 1-2 mile warm-up or the last 1-2 miles before
I arrived at my work. For those who don't know Bradford, it has a
divided, 4-lane section with left turn areas or 5 lanes with a center
left-turn lane. I reserve my slower speeds to roads where there are two
lanes in the same direction so folks and pass me.

After warm-up, my normal, city cruise speed is ~35-38 mph or less or
above 48 mph. This avoids a Prius critical speed, 42 mph, where there is
a dip in MPG performance. But when on a section where there is only one
lane in my direction, I'll speed up until I reach a section with an open
passing lane.

BTW, one of my favorite Bradford sections is the hill above Sparkman. I
like to crest it at a minimum speed since there is a right-turn lane,
two left-turn lanes and two forward lanes. Cresting at the minimum gives
me maximum regeneration and a window for 'timing the light'. Often I'll
not even come to a stop at the Sparkman light.

Funnily enough is I often find myself watching traffic approaching that
would prefer to follow me than pass. It doesn't make sense and often
I'll change lanes so they can pass me on the right . . . accelerate to
+5-10 mph and brake 200 yards down the road to make a right turn.
