My friend's friend came out of the bank and his 2006 Prius was DEAD. His UCAN -II-B scanner brought up the following codes and he wonders what to do:

    02-Hybrid Control Fault 1

    05-ABS/VSC/TRAC Fault 4

    08-Transmission Control Fault 4

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You will need the real codes the numbers that go with those codes like PO420 that sort of thing.

Those read like a count of each type of fault. I don't know that code reader, but I'd guess that you have to click into each of those three categories to see the list of error codes within them.

    How dead is "dead"?

If that scanner is actually getting codes from systems like hybrid control or ABS, then some of the car is actually powering up to "ignition on" mode.

Does the dash (speedo) light up? How about the rest of the displays? Any warning lights?

As mentioned, please post the actual code numbers from all the systems.

Just wild guesses but you could have a capacitor in the Combination Meter (speedo) that can prevent the car from turning on. Or a failed inverter water pump that popped the AM2 fuse.

    Need more info.
