During the time that I am fishing around for a good fuse to tap into, I found this box just under the driver side ...

Can anyone know what they are ? and before you ask, no, I do not own it and previous owner is passed away so no...

The location is tie to a self driving or whatever they called it back in the day .

    TIA,

I have no clue but I can tell you it is not OEM. Maybe google the manufacturer and model that you can see on the label.

The box it is tied to is the Navigation DVD reader. Not sure whether all of the GPS function is driven from here also, but probably.

Slide the zip ties a little bit so they're not covering up the company address, product name, and model, and you're probably one short google away from what it is.

    I did a search and found ejward.com .

Is the device connected to the OBD2 port?

It is some type of device that can capture data like odometer, acceleration, braking, idle time. VIN, GPS, MPG, etc. It looks like the data can be transmitted wirelessly. The device is usually installed in a company car to track its usage.

From the remove/disconnect standpoint, I am looking at something similar to this :

    1. One end of RS232 daisy to my OBD2 which I can unplug.
    2. The other end: perhaps another RJ9 with some crimping connections for power, and ... ? I really want to remove any external GPS if there is, but tracing non OEM wires can not be fun :( ....

I am not looking forward to this, but perhaps spring clean up time .

I also had one of those in my Prius. I removed it as well. It was ina security vehicle that the officers had to swipe there rfid on the dash to activate the car to start and end their shift.
