Here’s everything that’s happened:

The car originally would start (go into READY), run briefly, then shut off with a red triangle and “PROBLEM” message. After that, it got worse and now it won’t go into READY at all. It powers on like normal (dash lights, etc.) and sounds like it’s about to start, but “READY” never appears.

First, any way to tell for sure if it's heated? I assume it is, based on the model and year, but not 100% sure. I tried turning on the rear defrost to see if it heated up, but to the touch I can't tell.

I've got a couple of flakey duplex electrical outlets: on each one of the outlets is showing something like 50 volts (120 volt the norm), so thought I'd replace them. Which introduced me to the sand pounding reality of Tamper Resistant outlets. After the swap, both a coffee grinder and a grid are impossible to plug in. Work around:

1) On Clutchfield it looks like there a lot of options to replace the head unit. Ideally I'd like one that has apple carplay, can do wireless and wired connection, and has a volume knob - which may be a tall order. Anyone have any recommendations?
