Hey all I have the option to purchase a clean title 2016 Prius four with JBL speakers that was well maintained. But needs 60k service as it is just about to reach 120k miles for $14,000.

OR

I can buy a sideswipe, not too badly damaged but already fixed, 2024 AWD XLE Prius without JBL speakers but still leatherette seats that has 8k miles total for $26,000.

Many of these shops don't include that towards any work that's done if you decide to get the work completed and use their services.

Is this a new trend? I can understand major dealerships doing this, but small to medium-sized mechanics?

IMO, bad business practice, and not the optimal...

I went in looking for a stripped FWD model but they barely carry any. Seems most of the dealers here are sitting on AWD-Es and deluxe models almost exclusively.
