Exciting news! I’ve not only discovered another Toyota model that shares connectors to the back of the MFD/Radio with the Gen 2 Prius, but I also found a company that manufactures these Tesla style screens. I'm currently collaborating with them to make sure that these radios can showcase the diagnostics menu. Even better, since they already have access to the CAN bus from behind the radio, I’m...
So I received my new one and I noticed recently that at random times on start up the clock loses time. Meaning, after I start it up I notice the clock has lost and hour, sometimes two.
I’m looking at some Apple CarPlay units that supposedly replace the radio in a Prius for my son’s birthday. I’ve been doing some reading to find a good drop-in CarPlay unit that’s already fitted for a 2007 Prius.
There seem to be quite a few options out there, but I haven’t found one with consistently good reviews. Several reviews say the unit doesn’t come with a resistor that’s needed to keep the top dash display working.
I’m not looking to invest in an expensive stereo. Just something...
What does that long beep mean? I assume it means the car wasn't locked, so I hit the lock button again, and then get the correct sound. But WHY didn't the car lock the first time?
I think maybe I’m doing something wrong, and want to correct it if I can.
I just bought a 2008 Prius and the seller has lived with an audio issue for the last couple years. When I go to play the radio there is no sound, but when I turn the volume knob to level 1 the speakers max out. I went to settings and set the audio to only play through the rear passenger speaker. The same issue occurs and when I turn the volume up further the other speakers go in and out as I twist the volume knob and always at max volume. It's the original radio. Any suggestions?...

Currently my MFD has the no back light issue and I'm using that issue as an excuse to replace the factory MFD with something more modern.

I'm trying to find some info on Chinese Android head units and growing tired of messaging AliExpress sellers regarding the AC control and JBL amp control options.

I'm happy to bypass the JBL amp if need be (can rewire and use passive crossovers for the tweeters) but AC control is important to keep.

Given the factory MFD is unusable I'd...
