Dealer-filled first tank.
Went until light came on when it said I could go 30 miles more.
559 miles, 9.64 gal
The tank capacity is 11.3 gals?
I don't think I'm going to test it though.
I kind of babied it, but not super extreme.
edit: The tank apparently holds 11.4 gals, per the manual:

Started with a 90% SOC on battery
Cuise set to 76 mph the entire way, sea level, mid-80s ambient temp and a 5mph tail wind.
Tires at 40 PSI cold.

I’m curious how Gen 5 owners are seeing real-world MPG compared to the Gen 4. EPA numbers look good on paper, but how does it perform in mixed city/highway driving, especially with winter temps or short trips? Would love to hear some long-term impressions.

I sure have the sense that if I drive around with the heat off, my mpgs go up.

I've been leaving the fan "OFF" until things warm up some, and it can easily go into EV, if applicable.

I've also been turning the fan On and Off-like if I'm too cold, lol, there's an uphill-turn on, because the engine's going to be generating excess heat anyway; turn off in an EV situation or if I'm warm enough, lol again.

I do have the ability to see what the coolant temperature is, but I haven't been using...

Hi everybody,

I have a new (<150 miles) 2026 Prius LE, and it gets only about 30 MPG. Before, I had a 2017 Prius Level 2, and it got 50+ MPG - the high end of its rating. The advertised rating of the 2026 LE is 57 City/56 Hwy/57 Combined. Will my efficiency increase with more miles, or might there be an issue with the car - or does it need another driving style than what I am used from the 2017?

hey all,

first off, during the warmer months, my 2025 prius was doing pretty solid fuel economy numbers. coming from a 2012 prius c, the new car generally matched or exceeded summer driving mpg quite easily. happy customer there.

now winter has arrived, and as expected, fuel economy has taken a hit. i know the usual culprits: colder temps, snow tires/snowy conditions and increased climate control use all factor in, especially on shorter drives.

It gets fairly cold in the winter here (east of Albany, NY). In fact, right now it's 2 degrees.

I think gas is 10% ethanol year round here (except for high test, which is ethanol free).

I'm wondering how much of a hit winter blend fuel has on fuel economy?

I realize winter is not a good time for mpg's, regardless.

The interwebs seem to indicate it is a factor.

Hello fellow PHEV owners! Just wondering if you’ve noticed or found the charge history in kWh to be inaccurate in the Toyota app. In my most recent charges, the app indicated it only took 8.1kwh and 9.27 kWh respectively, but I have a way of calculating the energy consumption with our electricity provider.

As an example, I only charge the vehicle overnight from 9pm to 7am and according to our elec provider, it indicated every hour to consume 1.64 kWh (assuming 120v x 10amp =1,240wh) with...

I ran my Gen 3 out of fuel years ago, and I was surprised when the engine finally died at 181 kms, after the red indicator came on. The car would still limp along at about 30 kph. I have no idea how far this would have got me.

My Gen 5 behaves as follows:

The red refuel indicator comes on with 40 kms remaining on the fuel range indicator. A message, "Refuel" shows on the console about every 10 minutes.

I am really disappointed in my brand new 2024 Prius LE and am considering turning the lease back over. The car body has been re-designed to have a front and back end that bulges out in width. The interior is over-designed with alerts that "talk" unendingly (yes I turned them off). The interior is NOT designed for a smaller person. For the 2023 Prius the tire size for the 19 inch wheels is 195/50R19. Which is not very common and will probably be expensive when you can find them. I believe they are also bringing down the gas mileage of the XLE.

So here's my question/concern, should I sell/trade my XLE tires and wheels for LE tires and wheels to get better gas mileage, a smoother ride and cheaper tire replacement?

Wondering what the easiest way to keep track of mpg?

I used to just write calculated mpg and dash mpg on the printed receipt, and keep a stack of them, but around here nowadays, most seem to be out of paper.

I've seen Fuelly.com . That seems to have promise. Downside could be that all your hard work disappears if they dry up and blow away. Possible to download a local backup?

Perhaps a spreadsheet? I don't think my laptop came with one. I'd have to hunt around for one.

Exceeding the 72km’s…just thinking about the new Rav as it’s rated for up to 80km’s I’m sure it will also go above the actual range
