I'm an experienced snow driver and to dispell people from accusing me of doing anything outrageous. There was a first responder in the car that needs to be back for critical work.

Now on to the trip!

The first 60 mi were perfect at or above speed limit. There was some snow in Massachusetts but it was so cold. It was just blowing drifts and for half of the state it was not slick....

They wanted $240 to replace the 14 year old TPMS transmitters; one of which had a dead battery and the others which will soon expire.

Over the pas 14 years, they have only detected a low tire pressure warning no more than 10 times, mostly due to reduced tire pressure form sub freezing temperatures.

The local Toyota dealer quoted $550.

Excessive oil burning may have been the root cause aggravated by sloppy diagnosis and repairs.

Still burns oil, has low power and a timing chain cover leak.

A little ranting about other shops but good info later.

Check engine light and no power. Needs about $5k of parts without solving oil burning or oil leaks.

My first purchase was a full sized spar, in that on a freeway trip, I did not want to trust the donut spare that came with the car.

Over the years, I carried a Harbor Freight aluminum flat top 1-1/2 ton racing jack. The original was bulky and weighed 23 pounds. Unfortunately, while Toyota provided a strap and instructions on how to hold down the full sized spare on top...

- Replaced passenger side headlight bulb with 100w H11 generic from Amazon.
- Bulb soon failed with evidence of burning around base, as well as "welding" itself to connector.
- Mechanic had to replace connector by splicing and crimping into existing wiring harness.
- Car now will occasionally throw a bunch of lights on dash. Scan for code, no code stored. Clear code anyways to turn off extra lights on dash.
- Car will also now turn off ECO mode, which I always leave...
