This popped into my inbox this morning New hydrogen-storage method discovered | R&D Mag Although clearly impractical for commercial use, it does open up the possibility of better H2 storage methods
Until it can reduce the pressure to a few thousand atmosphere, it is not possible even in small scale production. Kind of like trying to find cold fusion.
Better storage is good. But until a method of production is found that betters the efficiency of electricity, the 'hydrogen economy' isn't viable.
Comments above are correct. As I stated, this is a clearly impractical method, but does open the door into very good research
But we already have an excellent hydrogen storage technology: take hydrogen atoms, attach them to carbon atoms, then string these together into rings and long chains. They make an energy-dense yet relatively stable and easy-to-handle liquid :_>
I find that hydrogen reacts readily with sulfur to form a compound that can be stored in my intestines for later release. Mexican food has proved to be an excellent and economical catalyst for this reaction. Tom
