Not mechanically inclined but can do an oil change. Are there other points that need lubrication? I've read there aren't any grease zerks but are there other areas that could use a routine hit of grease (door hinges, parking cable, etc)?
Bummer for you this car doesn't take much. On my 97 Camry I tried to lube the door hinges and stuff like that but in the end, I think I did more damage than good. The dirt built up around that areas real bad. I think keeping the exterior clean, fluids filled, regular maintenance schedules checked is your best bet. I have had 4 Toys over the years and they take care of themselves pretty good. Peter
Does the Prius Gen 3 have any grease fittings??? My 2005 Tacoma didnt have any. All the joints were sealed. Seems the 2010 Prius should be as advanced as a 2005 Tacoma.
The one thing I would be certain to lube is the fuel door hinge. I see many other Japanese marques requiring fuel door replacement because sufficient force is required to close them (due to lack of lubrication) that they ultimately bend.
My other cars were beaters lucky to get washed every couple months. This is my first new car and taking much better care of it. Washing every 1-3 weeks depending on weather and schedule. Rust and creaky hinges are pet peeves.
I hear you on that. The components seem to be better, tighter on the Toys and hold up pretty well. My 97 Camry had 126,000 miles and had no problem with the hinges.
