Can someone with a Gen III in the warmer areas answer a question. I wanted to know if the EV mode is available when you get in the car after its been sitting for a few hours. For me the temperature is around the low 30's. So when I get into my car after a few hours the car says EV mode not available and the engine starts, even when I hit the EV button immediately after hitting the power button. just curious if this will change once summer comes around
Nope. The engine HAS to warm up the catalytic converters so as to reduce emissions. The length of time the engine has to be on to make this happen is the variable. I am sure someone will come up with a hack to override this someday.
The NCF document says the initial EV mode requires the engine coolant temperature approx 20C (68F) or more. Ken@Japan
