I think we Prius drivers should take advantage of the current wave of publicity about Prius problems. I'm thinking of attaching a sign to the front bumper of my car, with reversed lettering so drivers in front can read it in their rear view mirrors. The sign would read: GET OUT OF MY WAY! AT ANY MOMENT I MAY CRASH INTO YOU BECAUSE A) MY ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK; B) MY BREAKS FAILED; C) MY CRUISE CONTROL BUSTED; D) YOU'RE GOING TOO SLOW AND I'M IN A HURRY. With all the scare stories out there, this just might be as effective in clearing a path as a siren and blinking read and blue lights.
Especially if you get the local TV station to do a story on your sign. You probably should have a big sign applied to the hood of your Prius - small print is hard to read.
In order to be seen you need big letters, which will only leave room for a few words. Maybe "MOVE OVER. BRAKELESS PRIUS!!"
I've been driving my Honda around, and if I'm at a light and 5 feet or less from a Toyota product I put on my emergency flashers and hold up a sign that say's "Ray LaHood Warns You to Stay at least 15 Feet away from me".
I was thinking that a sign like that in the back of my Prius that lit up each time the brakes (breaks? as in broken brakes) were applied would be another option.
