There's nothing in oil that can't be made synthetically it's just far easier and cheaper to drill the ground for it. Hell you can make petrol out of air if you want to. This was done on a large scale by the axis powers in the later part of WW2 and the principles haven't changed.
Petrol from air? Do you perhaps mean from coal, this way? Fischer?Tropsch process - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I understand that the intermediate is carbon monoxide, but air concentrations of that gas are generally very low. And oxygen breathers much prefer it that way
?????? Um, I think you mean the process of making nitrates "out of thin air." This is called the Haber Bosch Process, and has been around about a century
