In the first story, "Runaway Prius", the guy looks to be past his prime in driving skills :-( It is so sad to see people whom should not be driving anymore, blame a perfectly fine car.
So this article names the vehicle that was struck, but fails to name the vehicle behind that was unable to stop. I smell a bias. Local news here has had numerous recent reports of SUAs or vehicles otherwise leaving the road or parking lot and colliding with buildings, or (this afternoon) a child not in the road. The reports have been mentioning driver ages, and the non-DUI cases are heavily biased to my age and older. But the reports have generally been refraining from naming the vehicle make or model, even when a Toyota logo is clearly visible in a picture. The one recent memorable exception was a Lexus, where the 70-something driver admitted to pedal error. Of course, many pictured cases have other brands visible. Toyotas are popular enough here, so that the outlets must not feel a need to ostracize a scary minority.
