I notice a dashboard rattle to the left of the steering wheel. I thought it might be from the cable that pops the hood, but it seens like it's coming from behind the dimmer control. The dealer thought it was a loose hose leading to the a/c vent, but even after they secured the hose, it came right back. Problem is that it comes and goes.
Here is a link to the instruction for dash removal http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...ix-clock-fell-into-dashboard.html#post1059130 Good luck!
That's the first part to remove when you want to disassemble the instrument panel. Grab the vent at the top and bottom with your two hands, and pull it out.
I also have a rattle that comes and goes from somewhere on the drivers side dash. I cannot trace it to one spot while driving.
I had a rattle which turned to be the upper glove box, the top portion was loose and ratt.eling. I removed the two plug covers that hide the screws and tightened the two philips screwheads. Took care of problem.
Here's another thread which has information on dashboard rattles: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-technical-discussion/76716-fixing-rattles.html I have rattles in the dashboard from under each small window left and right sides which come and go with temperature. See my post #3 in the above thread for a picture of the source of the rattles.
And look here for an easy fix if it's the same source as mentioned above: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...n/73709-i-fixed-squeak-in-my-dash-1-00-a.html Good luck!
