This is a general question for any of the PHEV kits that people have installed. Is there an OK alternative location besides the bumper to put the plug for the kit? I understand that it may mean having the hatch partially open when charging, but that is OK. Also, maybe somebody has another idea for the location so the hatch wouldn't need to be open.
Hi Sub3, I did not want to drill holes in my wifes brand new 2010. I always charge in the garage, So I used a computer cord and set it up to charge out the window. I just have to remember to role the window down before I turn off the car. Then when I am done charging the cord stows nicely beside the seat. Thanks, Dan
You asked for suggestions and I'm including my actual 4 years set-up. 110/220 @ 50Amps recharging outlet. Cheers
Yes, that looks spectacular there in the front, just where it should be. Of course, mrbigh comes up with many great ideas. Then I wonder how difficult it is to get from the plug in front to the batteries in back. Do you get the wire run inside the passenger compartment through the firewall, or underneath on the car to the trunk area and then through back there, which seems less than optimal. Also, thanks dan2l for your suggestion too. That looks to be the simplest thing to do.
I installed my wiring from underneath the car and used the same plastic channel than the HV wires are run from the Hybrid system battery assy. I must said that it was a time consuming job for a pro look and application than having a "wire" hanging elsewhere in the car.
