so guys....I'm planning on getting a 2011 Blizzard Pearl next May, as my least is up then, (believe me, if I could get out of a GM lease early without paying extra I would). I'm now driving a 2007 Pontiac Torrent, getting about 22mpg local, 29 on the highway, my question to all you Prius God's is, what major differences will I see with my 2011 Prius, aside from 75-80mpg listed on the 2010 Prius window sticker. I did notice on here much of you are quoting around 55mpg with your cars, however I assume thats in american gallons. Just wondering what new experiences, good and bad, I'll be seeing with my new 2011 baby, can't wait till May 2011 for my Blizzard Pearl.
You tricked me into reading your thread. I thought you had news that there was a new shade of blizzard pearl coming out next year! US gas mileage for me is between 50-55mpg lately, varies by terrain, AC, and my mood. My only complain is some rattle on the passenger rear side, likely fixable... haven't had time to figure it out.
007: I just purchased a 2010 BP. So far I'm very happy with it, and I think the paint finish is the nicest of all the current colors. I was divided between the BP and the red, but I just came from a red car and wanted something a little less maintenance. I've already waxed the BP up and it looks great. I have two gripes. Seats: I have the cloth seats and the lumbar support is almost non-existent. Rattles: I think the materials used (hard plastics) have lent to a few rattles that I feel shouldn't be apparent in a car this young. My fiance has a Scion tc, which uses soft touch plastics, and it is completely quiet -- really impressive actually. Silentak: I have the same rattle, and I think one likely culprit is the seatback clips that lock the seats into place when they are up. Going to try applying a little grease or lube to them to see if that quiets the noise. I don't hear it when there are people in the back.
If you are closed within your lease, they can just buy the car from you. I owed $1K on my Subaru (3-4 months left on lease with 1000 miles remaining), they just bought the car and sold the new car to me at invoice.
but when I drop off the Torrent, I'm leaving them and going to the Toyota dealer, I don't think they would want to buy me out unless I was purchasing another GM product, and there is no chance of that happening.
There won't be any changes coming with the 2011 model. You would probably have to wait until fall of 2011 to get a 2012. The 2012 model is the earliest I can see any sort of mid-cycle refresh coming.
The fuel economy numbers you see on the window sticker in Canada is extremely exaggerated. They (Transport Canada) use the old EPA methods. Expect -at best- about 4.4 l/100 km, but not until -you- learn to drive efficiently AND the car is broken in. That takes about a year. You'll see in the 4.6-4.8 range in summer and 5.2-5.6 range in the winter for the first year or so. You will still love the car though. It's fascinating (Spock term) to drive a car smarter than the driver.
Nope, all dealers purchase the return leased cars at the payoff price. This is why you can go to any dealer to trade it in. For example if your payoff price is 13K + 4 payments of $250, the dealer can simple pay the bank $14K and buy the car. If you don't trade it in now, the dealer will just pay the bank 13K when you return the vehicle to take possession of it. As long as your car is worth $14K now, you should be all set. You have a GM car, it might be a little bit tougher since their resale is terrible. I just traded in my Subaru 4 months early ( i had 1K left on lease and 4 payments left) and got a Nissan Cube. Call your bank and see what your payoff is, use something like the blackbook (go to www.thinkbank.com and look under used car value) to see what your car is truly worth. The bluebook is useless, they always quote 1-3K higher
For the first 24,000km we have been avg 5 l / 100km Our last trip to Dartmouth 3400 km round trip was 5.4 l/100 km, but we driving at about 120-125 km/hr and there was 4 people in the car The back was complete filled If it was just me and the wife it probably be at 4.5 l/100km
