I'm stuck between which one to buy. The sigma looks like more work installing it, but at least there's a dedicated button and i won't cause any further wear on my cruise control switch. I'm reading that the sigma uses thin wiring that can break when installing. How much is the Sigma button to replace with the same? Which would you buy and why? Do you regret getting the EV kit you have and wish you bought the other?
In my opinion, EV is a waste of money on the Gen II. It's 'cool' at first, but then you realize that you really didn't gain anything.
I disagree. It can save fuel when used properly in the right driving conditions. Proper use is not to primarily use it for propulsion but instead to force ICE shutdown during warmup gliding, coasting, or braking. See this for more. Also in that thread is a link describing my home-grown installation, with functionality superior to that of the Coastal switch at a fraction of the cost of Sigma's.
i had a coastal in my 04. after i installed it, i drove it till the engine came on. on flat ground at low speed it went about a half mile on battery. over the next coupla years, i might have used it a dozen times to move the car around the driveway etc. my daughter gave me one for my 08 about a year ago, i still havn't installed it.
