They did the reshaping of the gas pedal. Wasn't I supposed to get new floor mats? The recall notice said they'd be replaced if they were "old" style. I'm pretty sure they're the ones that came with the car. Or they were supposed to clean them...that also didn't happen. I don't like dealing w/ the dealer...they're schmucks. Can I just call Toyota and say "hey, where are my new floor mats?"
They only replace the floor mats if you had the old, thick all-weather style mats. Then they replace them with thin ones that many people don't like. Sounds like you have the regular mats - those are fine, no risk of those things catching the pedals if they are secured properly.
FWIW, earlier today,I was at Bill Kidd Toyota; Cockeysville, MD, for routine 5K miles oil/filter/tire rotation. My e-records said I was due for the go-pedal trim recall/TSB -- I had been wondering when this little detail was going to come up. I said, "No thanks, the whole gas pedal thing is bogus." My service writer replied, "Do you mean, 'No,' for all time?" "Yes. Well, at least until there is Chesapeake Bay-front property for sale in Cockeysvile." You done good. I said WTH, go ahead and do the recall -- they were really wanting to do it. The result is that now my FOOT can slip under my newly-shortened gas pedal. And in Florida, the all-weather mats ARE the thin ones, so I didn't even get new mats out of the deal. Bummer all around.
I took my '06 in for the gas pedal recall. It took less than one hour. No new floor mats but they did install "brake override system design to reduce engine power when brake and accelerator pedal are applied simultaneously" I didn't know I needed this fix. It's been a few weeks since the work and no problems to report.
All Toyota hybrids (and I think general hybrids) already have this OEM... That was one of the big points of the idiots trying to blame the car. They did nothing of the sort, the car already came with it.
Well I just got a phone call from my dealer, asking to make an appointment for the pedal trim. I just said "no thanks", and that was that. No forms to sign, no personnel to beat off. But they never see Pearl anyway. Yes, the hybrids already have the "brake override" system. The -other- Toyotas, that had the CTS accel. pedal assemblies, however, -are- getting the "brake override firmware update". Of course, the nuts on the internet are reporting -all- Toyotas are getting it.
