Where's a 12V ignition switched power port in the engine compartment?

    Hi all,

to install my FLIR system I need a 12V power supply, ideally switched with my Gen III's ignition switch.

Where in the engine compartment can I find that?

    Thanks!

Where can we find both a pure 12 constant power source which will provide 12 volt power 24 hours a day and a 12 volt swaitched (ignition)? To secure both of these in the drivers kick panel would be great. I have tried 37 wires at this location with no luck.

You can get an "always live" power source at the large white cable as shown in this picture. I did a mod for a center console light and wanted a constant source of unswitched power too. It works fine and I believe the cable is on an automatic breaker from the engine compartment panel. While you are in there, my experience has been that solid green colored wires are "switched" power so you can explore those harness wires too (please be careful so you don't short a circuit - you could take out a computer!)

To get to the white cable, you must remove the drivers side kick panel to expose one screw that secures the lower left dash panel (mirror switches). Then you can pull that panel out carefully and let it drop wires still hanging on the harnesses. You will see the large white cable. I suggest disconnecting the battery so as to not cause a short when you tap into it. Here's a picture of that area showing the cable:
