Can someone tell me if the BT Tech skid plate is available for the 2010 model, and if it is, can installation directions be acquired prior to purchase. Is there a direct link for this product other than accessory shop here? Thank you.
I have emailed the "Shop" twice with no reply and no reply to this thread. Can someone please assist? Thanks.
Hi I own a copy of the BT Plate, but it is not a skid plate, it reduces chassis flex, and sits well back behind the drivetrain. http://www.dragtimes.com/parts/Toyo...-Stiffening-Plate-2004-2009_120589537783.html Several chassis strengtheners are available for the 2010, but no skid plates (drivetrain protectors) that I am aware of. Toyota Prius 2010 ZVW30 Performance, Handling & Electronic Accessories :: Sigma Automotive The C-one front engine brace comes closest to being a skid plate, The center bar is closest to the BT Plate. http://www.sigmaautomotive.com/jdm/prius_zvw30/per_cone_performancebars.jpg Of the center bars listed, the Sustec is cheapest at $125 [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skid_plate"]Skid plate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]
Thank you JimboPalmer. This is the "skid plate" I am refering to. PriusChat Shop : Toyota Prius BT Tech Skid Plate - $299.99 I just need to know if it works on the 2010 model. Still no response from my emails. Is the Shop a part time thing. Someone I need to PM?
Here is the underside of an unfortunate Gen II Prius you can see the engine is uncovered underneath: (Just ahead of the gas tank is the plate the other BT Plate replaces) Here is a (huge) picture of the underneath of the 2010, as you see, the engine is covered underneath, stock.
It's rack time for the dealer, as with every vehicle before I buy. Will need to determine if this covering is adequate and not just plastic or thin metal to enhance airflow. The exhaust system does appear to have improved shielding, especially near the fuel tank. You may have answered my question in that PriusChat Shop : Toyota Prius BT Tech Skid Plate - $299.99 does not "appear" compatible with the 2010. Verification is required. This is a great site, however I find it unsettling that the "Shop" does not respond to my inquires. Is there a phone number I missed? Thanks JimboPalmer. Your time spent is appreciated.
If nothing else, it will make a great template for making the more robust plate you were hoping for. All the Bolts in the same place, etc. will help it bolt right on. http://www.thomasnet.com/nsearch.html?cov=GT&what=Metal+Fabricating&heading=50550409&loc=TX
All, I'm desperate to find someone who is making a replacement cover system / skid plate for the gen III prius (2010 +). I've had a skid plate from dieselgeek.com on my golf TDI since 2003 and I LOVE it. Need one for my new prius! Any ideas?
There is a great amout of differences in these photos. The lifted Prius is very much air flow designed and gas tank is seprated from the exhuast. The air flow design under the passanger areas is quite impressive as it is on F1 cars, you can see simular designs in moving the air under the center of the car to the rear. I would expect the cover under the engine to be changed at some point ti do the same.
