I was trying to install the invisicord cable for my escort radar detector thru the auto dimming/homelink mirror, I shorted it, and homelink no longer has any power, a couple minuteds later i got a check hybrid system. now question how do i restore power to the homelink mirror, is there a fuse to replace? and that warning and all the other warnings that i got related to the short. I read somewhere here that if power to the homelink mirror was off that you get no power to some systems, not sure where is that post , cant findnit, any help will be greatly appreciated, the car starts. thank you
Find the DOME fuse. It is likely that fuse has blown. The Homelink is powered by that fuse. Further, various ECUs receive keep-alive voltage via that fuse when the car is IG-OFF. After you've restored proper system operation, should you find that warning lights remain on, then disconnect the 12V negative terminal where it connects to the body for 5 minutes, then reconnect. That should erase DTC logged by the hybrid vehicle ECU.
thank you Patrick I check the dome fuse, its working fine I then disconnected the power at the 12v negative terminal, left the power off for 5 minutes. but i still get the same error, any other suggestion would be appreciated thank you
Since you say the DOME fuse is OK, then I assume that your interior cabin lights are working. Find the ECU-IG fuse and check its condition.
Patrick, I had taken the car to the dealer before I saw your post, but it was as you said the ign-2 fuse had blown, and that in turn cut power off to the other systems, once the fuse was replaced all systems worked, and the codes were cleared Thank you
Thanks to both of you (Patrick and PapaGallo) now I will know where to look first if I do the same thing.
What I should have done is disconnect the power to the battery, also the invisicord terminals are kind of big for the homelink connectors in the Prius the best thing is to trim them and make them shorter so there is no metal expose and avoid any chance of a short>thats what I am going to do.
This post saved me a trip to the dealership. I did the same thing and shorted the homelink mirror. Swapped out IGN2 in the driver side fuse box with a spare from the engine fuse box. Disconnected battery in back passenger side for 5 min. Back in business.
