Because one hears voices through the tin foil hat, doesn't mean those voices aren't real,,, or are for that matter. I personally would trust the ones that are demonstrably real however.

Don't you think you should watch the video before commenting on it?

Here is a question for those in favor of the video and org? How many degrees less global warming do you think 10:10 will create?

Now if you want to see well done violence play GTA. If you want the UK to create less greenhouse gas, perhaps blowing up everyone in London would do it, but the ends don't exactly make much sense.

Just wondering, you say you have a science degree. Have you ever taken embryology or comparitive anatomy? It appears to me that "ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny" (in regards to the embryo) is correct.

    HUH?

I was commenting on Spiderman's assertion that he talked to God every day, ergo proving his existence.

As for your second sentence, I think you miss the point of 10/10. The object is to increase public awareness of the direness of the issue. The event in and of itself won't prevent any reduction in the rate of warming, but perhaps it may serve as a catalyst to educate those that are ill informed.

As for your last sentence,, It is what doesn't make much sense.

I am sorry I can not join your club and exchange ideas... I totally understand as I had the same exact feelings at times in kindergarten.

As to DaveRose's question, the answer is no. You make a good point as Biology was not my area of study. But than again, I was just asking how DT is a basic tenant of Biology.

So anyway, I just realize that this conversation has gotten way off topic. I am happy to know that Icky does not condone violence to get a point across as in the case here with 10:10 video.

ah. sorry I misinterpreted. I thought you were insulting those that aren't convinced of AGW. Belief in god is so far OT, that I missed that.

Well, yes if you have a certain point of view. My POV is that the organization provides its true believers a feeling of moral superiority, while doing nothing for the environment.

I would rather have AGW doubters like spiderman use minimal energy, than to have someone be a true believer and just change a light bulb and continue using large amounts of energy and the resulting pollution.

Watch the video that is the point of this thread and my last sentence should make a great deal more sense. That is if you understand over the top criticism of the 10:10 commercial.

Easy pal, I wouldn't go as far as saying "doubter"... more like unconvinced.

Our family is right now in the middle of upgrading our house in energy improvements that will reduce the estimated CO2 output by nearly half (3+star to 5+star). Of course we are taking advantage of the Federal Tax Credit and the State of Alaska Energy Rebate program (yes Icky, the blood money ). We will still be in it for 2-3K of our own money (our vacation fund +). The point is, you can't judge a book by its cover.

Sadly it's related. We opress their home nations in order to obtain oil, so they literally blow up our countrymen.

I think that would be a far more powerful basis for an advertising campaign - who has not been affected in some way by these attacks, or the world trade centre attacks? Our governments should just admit we are only in these nations for the oil, and ask the people to truly decide on the cost (not neccesarily in $) of our wasteful lifestyle.

I saw a great episode of wifeswap. a guy in florida was berating and belittling the swapped woman for hanging her clothes out to dry. he was sorry for her because clearly she was "too poor" to dry her clothes properly. he also thought drying them outdoors was "dirty" and something you do in the "ghetto".

He was in FLORIDA. his clothes would dry out in a few minutes!

I agree with much of your sentiment, but will follow you off topic with a little politics. Khan was born in the UK. His father was born in pakistan, and whether you think that country has been oppressed or not, it was not for oil. British colonialism, or America's carter doctrine seem counter productive oil or not. But reducing imports of oil will retard the retarded politicians in our countries from the excuse to act badly to protect "our" oil. It also will reduce the flow of pounds, euros, and dollars to regimes that support terrorism, whether we call them friendly or not.

Back on topic, there are many reasons to reduce energy use and build clean energy sources. The Texas policy that is building so much wind power is bipartisan and has great support from the people of the state. It is an easy choice to build windmills and upgrade the grid than burning the finite natural gas. Plus we like to run our air conditioners without the risk of huge price spikes. Similarly oil conservation just makes sense with or without the A in AGW. It made me a little sad when I read the story about people in England rejecting free insulation for their homes. That wouldn't happen in Austin.
