Quote attribution bug Sometimes, when quoting a post that has a quote in it, the quoted portion in the new post is wrongly attributed to the poster who was quoted in the quoted post, rather than to the poster who wrote what the new post is quoting. (Edited for misspelling of thread title!)
In short, on two occasions, Spiderman quoted me and replied with some of his usual nonsense. Someone else quoted Spiderman's nonsense, but the post came out with Spiderman's words, but my name as the author of those words. On several occasions when I quoted someone else's post that had a quote in it, the text box opened with two open-quote indicators (the thing that has the word "QUOTE" inside square brackets) but only one close quote at the end (the thing where the "QUOTE" in square brackets is preceded by a backslash) The result is a mistaken attribution in the final post.
The quote function picked up two quote flags, but only one quote-closed. In this situation the first quote flag was ignored. It shows as unwanted text above the quote box, but it is easy to miss. Tom
