That's awesome! We're the electric car capitol of the world, cool. Can't wait to see them out there on the road. I'll never see one at a gas station .... except to pump up tires or wipe windshields.
It's so hard to read the comment section of articles like this. So many people that think they are well informed when it is obvious they are not. Ugggg
It was a lame heading for the article. Unfortunately, gas cars are going to be around a long time as you likely know, but change is accelerating. Those ignoramus' ought to spend some time looking here Climate Change | U.S. EPA to realize their children may live to see a day when the avg. global temp is 3 to 7 deg. F more, at the rate we are going, and all that could bring. There's a lot of hearsay and crap spewed by seemingly intelligent people, like, humans and cows breathe out CO2. Yeah, but do they emit 20 lbs. of it in 20 minutes? Like a 20 MPG car @ 60 mph? Doubt that. I'll listen to what the EPA, IPCC and climate scientists have to say, not Brian S. on conservative AM radio, TYVM.
And most people sitting at home probably hear 7 deg.F and think 'great, so I won't have to wear a sweater as much. It will be more comfortable,' but what they are ignorant of is the effect that a GLOBAL increase in 7 deg.F will have on weather patterns and sea level rise, not to mention droughts, crops and food, and migration of animals that could drastically alter and imbalance the ecosystem severely for decades before the wildlife adapts. Also, what people do not realize is that numerous university research studies have discovered that the percentage of oxygen that mammals grow in had a direct effect on the size and health of the mammals. As oxygen levels decrease (from 12mpg SUVs), it is having an inverse effect on our health due to a reducing percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere. Thanks for pointing out the "20 pounds" of CO2, I have never thought of it that way. For every ten pounds of gasoline that I put into my tank, it's ten pounds of CO2 going into the atmosphere (in the form of gas) OVER ALL THE YEARS I'VE BEEN DRIVING! thanks for making me look at it that way.
Did you catch this one? This is what so many say - climate change is a govt. hoax - 'Absolutely correct! Finally, another AutoBlogger who has done his/her research! This whole Global Warming Crisis and this crap about oil reserves running out is nothing but PR hoopla and a chance for oil barons (who the US Government is in bed with) to jack up the prices! The Bush's, Cheney's, etc. want the prices of oil to go up!!! '
In localized regions, it could be argued that weather patterns have simply shifted (drought in some areas, melting of Glacier National Park). BUT... In much the same way that antifreeze/coolant transfers heat throughout an engine and balances temp throughout, and human blood transfers and balances temp throughout, the oceans of earth transfer and balance heat throughout, and like the other two examples, also acts as a buffer to hot and cold. So, if ice shelves are melting in both the North and South poles and NASA satellite measurements of ocean temps reveals an increase, this means that the earth's surface temp is increasing. That is not political propaganda, that is fact. Cycledrum, take a look at this: http://m.wired.com/wiredscience/2010/11/huge-dragonflies-oxygen/ .
There are threads for climate discussions. Let's celebrate the welcomed delivery of a true EV. :focus:
Hear hear, and what a fantastic choice of colour. I never really liked that weird colour they've used in all the advertising shots - it was dreadful. The black looks good though
It is true. A gallon of gasoline emit 20 lbs of CO2. A 20 MPG car @ 60 mph would consume one gallon in 20 mins.
Ok, I am seriously biting toung so as not to rehash true well to wheels omitted data that the oily industry injects into ignorant U.S. government charts ... graphs and data and charts concocted by government lackies whom the oil lobby will continue to support for their re-elections ... but I'm only biting my toung out of respect for both Tony & USB YES! When we all 1st paid the $99 to get our deposit/place in line established (FOUR months prior to even being able to request a quote on our various options), THIS color wasn't even available! And to date, I have not yet seen a picture that truely does this color justice. I still like the pearl white (my ordered color) equally. I'd never change THIS late in the game, or I'd end up at the back of the line ... and the line isn't even scheduled to even re-open for ANOTHER YEAR! .
