Being a Friday, I believe I got someone on the phone who wanted to get a laugh for the week. I did indeed........too bad it's all not related to the 2001 Prius. Thanks again cw and to everyone who has reponded. I'm learning a whole lot here.
Sure it is, there are plenty of references to 01-03 Priuses in the hybrid sections. There are some parts where they point out the differences with 04 and later Priuses which really refers to 04-09 Priuses. This stuff was published before the 2010 Prius was introduced.
I can't speak to personal experience w/charging AGM batteries but http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/Hybrid03.pdf says (referring to the 12V aux battery):
I appreciate your pointing this out cw. I had not been told that. I don't think my battery charger has a setting that low. I'll have to check it. I won't try it if it doesn't. I don't want to ruin her battery if it's really not worn out. They said in that article that it was OK to "jump start" the battery. So I guess that's the safest way to try to get the vehicle started. But I believe they are referring to the '04 and later models. I hope this also holds true for the '01's.
DTC codes are P3009 and P3030. The car has no driveability issues other than the check engine light is on and the big !. It has a new traction battery as of 2-3 months ago. That was the first thing Toyota replaced trying to fix this error.
