I've narrowed it down to two types of tires. Michelin energy saver A/S $149 Bridgestone Ecopia EP100 $113 Both were rated as being every efficient (almost identical numbers) but the main difference is the speed rating. The Michelin is rated for 130 MPH and the Bridgestone is rated for 118 MPH. Since I won't be doing anything over 85, do you think it's wise to go with the cheaper tire? It does snow a lot during the winter here but the roads are usually plowed when I drive to work.
Since the original equipment tire was S-rated, any tire with a speed rating that is S or better is good enough. Bridgestone Ecopia EP100 is designated as a summer tire. Since you have snow to deal with I suggest you consider Ecopia EP422 instead, which is an all-season tire. The price for that tire is $78 here: ECOPIA EP422 Tires by Bridgestone at TireBuyer.com
I would suggest waiting until tire rack is running their $70 rebate on the Bridgestone tires. They are $73/ea. so the rebate is like getting a free tire. They are running the $70 Michelin rebate right now. Shipping is less than $40 for me. Not sure what it is for your area. And agree with Patrick's suggestion.
My tires are kind of low and I need a safety inspection within 30 days. I just checked STS tire and they want $493 - that includes tax, mounting, balancing, etc. Is that a good price? EDIT: I didn't realize that when you order tires from that place that they locate a dealer for you. I'm going to look at that....thanks for the link.
