Been noticing the recent upsurge in cat/feline threads so did a search and could not find any threads whatsoever on mosquitoes as housepets, which is astonishing when you consider how many there are (albeit not all could be considered welcome housepets). I think a series of videos on, say, stupid mosquito tricks would give new life to what has become a tiresome cliche in pet threads. Excuse me a minute (WHAP -ow! - scratch scratch).
I feel guilty....please accept my contribution [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VICaWgD-76w]YouTube - Tabasco "Mosquito" Super Bowl Spot[/ame]
One of the interesting things that I've learned through meditation, is that if you seriously love all beings, including bugs like mosquitoes, when they bite, it doesn't hurt, and when they leave, the bite has no itch to it. Heals almost immediately. This will probably NOT protect you from insect-borne illnesses, however, so I wouldn't trust it in areas where this is an issue. However, it's been working for me for a couple of years now.
I guess I'm just not that loving a person. Mosquitos are the one species I have no compunction killing. Strangely enough, except for one particularly memorable canoeing trip after a flood, they really don't bother me all that much. I think the trick is to hike with someone tastier.
I have been told that lots of garlic in the diet will discourage them. They are also attracted more to the color blue. I eat lots of garlic, which might offset my love of blue clothing...
