I am looking to close a deal on a 2010 prius tomorrow, it is a base II 2010 model with 12,400 miles on it, one owner and a clean car fax. A Honda dealer is selling it and they put in leather seats to help the selling value. I drove the car and everything seems great (although I have no idea what to compare it to.) I did test drive a new one and it seemed to drive very similar. They only thing that I seem to notice more was right when the used car comes to a complete stop it has a little "clunk" noise coming from the rear end, it did not seem to be so noticeable in the new model but hard o tell ( I might just be paranoid)

The price is 20,500 and there are not a lot of used prius's on the market at this price (with the miles, leather, etc).

Car is under warranty still and I plan on taking it right to a Toyota dealer for service and inspection this week.

Should I move forward with this deal? Is that stopping noise normal? Any other buying advise form the priuse experts on this forum?

    Thanks in advance!

:welcome: The AAA price for a brand new 2010 II around here is $21257. You can register the VIN at Toyota Owners - Official Toyota Owners Website to get dealer service history. The clunk is not normal. If it is due to damage then it is not going to be a warranty repair.

    Good luck.

    $20,500 for used with 12,500 miles ??

    I paid $21K brand new for a 2010 with 0 miles ...

I wouldn't buy that car ... just buy new and get Toyota care and good financing.

I'd be looking to buy that car for around $18K .... $18.5K TOPS.

service record looked clean, oil change at 4 and 8k. It had a wheel cap replaced on the driver side but other than that it was clean.

I don't see many New 2010 at 21K price. If you can point me there, I will do it!

You need to look at the total cost. Often you pay higher interest on a used car. I would look into a new 2011 before the cost goes up.

So far so good, I bought the car. I got into it for 18900. 12K miles with leather. Cars seems to be running great. The interest and total cost was still a great deal. Only about 1% higher in interest and 4K cheaper than new.
