...so many pages of archival charts. That man would make a chart out of anything. I think we need a chart of his charts. Tom
so bob is gone? i am not online a lot to notice.... i see last activity 10-2010... wow.. i do read this qoute from him "I was informed that postings about accidents and my continued presence at PriusChat are not negotiable. I would rather give up PriusChat than remain silent. Sure, this thread and note can be deleted but I really don't care. Somethings are more important. Good bye and GOOD LUCK! Bob Wilson" http://priuschat.com/forums/freds-house-pancakes/87544-please-support-rule-change.html#post1225108 something to do with backup camera's??
I don't have a link to the exact post by the moderators but essentially, a lot of Bob's postings were that of Prius accidents, usually ones involving fatalities. It was decided by the moderators that they didn't want those types of posts here. So, it seems Bob decided to not return to PC rather than not post here about accidents. It's too bad since I found many of his non-accident posts interesting and useful. IIRC, I was on a whirlwind bus tour of Europe (and even in the Netherlands for about a day ) when all of this was happening.
I agree that Bob's an adult and chose to leave. I'll agree that PriusChat is a private entity and Danny and the Moderators (in the immortal words of Dave Barry, a great name for a rock band) can make whatever rules they want. I do happen to think that, with or without Bob, creating a forum here for discussion of Prius Safety and Accident Reconstruction News and views is a good idea for the Prius and for Toyota (who, based on the ads I see, is PC's main financial support). See, many of the forums about accidents on the internet are hostile to the car industry in general and Toyota in particular. But accidents are a fact of life for every car manufacturer, and the possibility of accidents is always present for every driver and most pedestrians. Having a place to present and develop data with folks who are generally sympathetic to the Prius and Toyota seems to me to be a net plus for them and PC. And now, I think I have said what I want to and will shut up after one more line: I still miss Bob.
I'm for it as long as: 1. It's treated like Freds House of Politics and you have to join that particular forum to see it. 2. All the UA and related wakado posts restricted to that forum.
So visit him on Hybrid Car Forums where he is a moderator. He is also active on Yahoo's Prius_Technical_Stuff. JeffD
At the heart of the matter IMHO, Bob has been seeking a following and at times he's done it in the wrong way. Nothing wrong with him being a subject matter expert on the Prius...actually that's to his credit. It's how he has branched out from that which has been a problem. For about four years, he gave hypermilers like myself grief, trying keep people from joining CleanMPG.com, run off hypermilers when he moderated GreenHybrid.com, stepped down when he went after the very civil msantos at GH after he lost a fair arguement with him at PC. He just would not leave hypermilers alone and seemed like to paraphrase a politically incorrect statement: "the only good hypermiler is a dead hypermiler" In retrospect, I probably overestimated his influence and might have been better off ignoring him. I think his opposition to hypermilers was calculated on the hell he knew it would raise and give him visibility, even though his attempts to disprove it was very unscientific as it definitely works. Looking for another issue, he chose bell the hybirds, then documenting Toyota fatalities. While ridiculing the following Wayne Gerdes has, I am convinced Bob was seeking exactly that, as much as he denied it. I don't have a problem with Bob having a following over an issue as long as it's positive.
Mixed feelings about my last post on Bob. Nobody wins all arguments/always get what they want....if he could accept that, he and others would be happier. Just wanted to improve my ending tone on the topic.
