....my new 2011 Blizzard Pearl with fog lights is now sitting in my yard. No pics yet, but I'll post a few for those interested. I was really impressed with it, drove it home yesterday, then a few trips around town, got 4.3km/100, I'm not used to using the metric for gas, but it works out to 65mpg, which I thought was great for the first day. Two things I've learned, I have to remember to turn it off since there is no sound, duhh.....twice I've gone back to the car after being in the house doubting myself if I've actually turned it off...but I did. The other neat thing I discovered this morning, I had to scrape the frost off the rear window as expected, BUT...the lower tinted glass part was clear, due to the spoiler jetting out, not a speck on it. Also, its like the Tardis (if any of you are familiar with Dr. Who) it seems much bigger on the inside than on the outside, feels like driving a much bigger car than it is. I'm still getting used to the multi-screens, but that will come with experience. All in all, so far, I think its a great car, fun to drive, a little slow on the pick-up, but that's part of making me a better driver, I learned yesterday to hit the little PWR button when pulling out onto the highway, so all is good. The fog lights make the added touch pretty sharp as well. Next thing I have to try is the pulse/glide thingie I read here somewhere, but I'm very happy on my first day of driving to hit 65mpg, I wasn't expecting that this early.
thanks Ed, and everyone else who responded. Yes...I'm loving' it, can't wait to take a few trips this summer and enjoy the good mileage. You guys and gals are a great group, (like an extended family) with loads of information and knowledge, I might not have ended up with a Prius if not for this great site and the people that keep it going, it's how I learned about the car. My dealer is heading to Mexico tomorrow and he said yesterday if you have any problem with the vehicle while I'm gone just call so & so.....I said don't worry, I've got thousands of friends on Priuschat.com who can answer ANY question I may have!!:thumb:
ABSOLUTELY. there are many gurus here......and they're all super nice. I dont know much but i'm learning everyday. you'll have no problems here and can count on the experts to help you.
Congratulations! Blizzard Pearl is actually what I wanted way back when but I was not in a position to wait 2 months to get it. Your mileage on the first tank will be a bit screwy since you don't know if the dealer "really" filled the tank all the way or not and how many miles were on it when they did fill it, etc. Also your average mileage will go up as you break it in and as you get used to it. I also had to get used to the smart key and yes the car does feel much larger inside than it looks outside. Each Prius takes time to bond with its owner and it will retrain you as "it" sees fit. I leave mine in ECO all the time and if you push the gas pedal far enough it responds exactly like it does in PWR mode. Full throttle is full throttle no mater the mode. The mode just remaps the pedal sensitivity. Just drive it and have fun and enjoy it. There's lots of time for the P&G stuff later. Have a blast with your new car.
Congrats and many safe happy miles!!! You said you have fog lights on your II. Did it come with them or did you have the dealer install them? I am not familiar with the Canadian versions of the Prius.
We don't have fogs except on the Touring package (Looks the same as a Five/V on the outside but has the interior of a III)
I had them added on at the garage, I ordered them from Danny @ Priushop and he sent them, the dealership installed them and they look like they were factory installed. Even the mechanic who installed them said where did you get these, I'd like a pair for my Matrix, so I told him where to look & order, not sure if he can find what he's looking for but anyways....
yeah, after the first 218km's, I filled the tank myself and then started watching the numbers, so I know the tank was full. The car is indeed retraining me to drive, a bit slower actually, I find myself going the posted speed limit now instead of always being 10-15 over, something I did notice was how variant the speed is, (or maybe its just me?) I'll be driving at 80-85km's then I'll make a turn or something and I'll look at the speedometer and its at 68 or 70, and I don't even realize it. The vehicle rides so smooth you don't notice the speed difference....until someone starts riding your nice person then oops, better get back up to 85-90... It's a learning experience, & loving it.
