Borrowed this subject from the Miatanet website. Seeing there's quite a few here from the Pacific Northwest, it'll be interesting to see their take on this: Policy on Easter Eggs/Spring Spheres - Blog - MyNorthwest.com
Are chickens born like people? No, chickens are hatched from eggs. Are eggs born? No,eggs are laid. Are people laid? Some are, others are chicken.
So the Seattle school district's policy is that How does one speak in favor or neither religious beliefs or non-beliefs? Seems like the only way is to keep one's mouth shut!
Reminds me of a Bill Hicks stand up bit about Easter... "I was over in Australia during easter, which was intersting. Interesting to note they celebrate Easter the same way we do; commemorating the death and resurrection of Jesus by telling our children a giant bunny rabbit, left chocolate eggs in the night. Now, I wonder why we’re ****** up as a race, anybody? Anybody got any clues out there? Where do you get this **** from you know? Why those two things you know? Why not ‘Goldfish left Lincoln Logs in your sock drawer’ you know? As long as we’re making **** up, go hog wild you know. At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on it's back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it. 'Mummy, I woke today and there was a Lincoln Log in me sock drawer!'. 'That's the story of Jesus'. Who comes up with this ****?! I’ve read the Bible. I can’t find the words ‘bunny’ or ‘chocolate’ anywhere in that ******* book". -Bill Hicks That guy was one cynical and funny man...

It was all in the marketing. Easter and Christmas both have Pagan origins. The Christians needed holidays to replace the holidays the Pagans had celebrated at those times to increase the number of converts.
So you are saying that Christians violated their God's 1st and 2nd commandments and named the day of their Lord's resurrection after another Goddess, and perform her rituals on that day... for marketing purposes?
I doubt it was called 'marketing' back then. Are you suggesting all the rituals of Christianity are unique to that religion, with nothing in common with anything that went before it?

Not to overlook that between the two options of: 1) Having your kids look for eggs hidden in a field for treats or..... 2) Having your kids carry a heavy cross through a jeering crowd Both Pagan and Christian moms would have gone with number 1.
