My 2011 does not arrive until late tomorrow or Saturday, but I am trying to order a paint protection film kit. There are choices between 18" of coverage and 24" coverage on the hood and I am trying to decide which on which one to go with. Visually, the 3rd gen Prius's hood looks "small" to me in pictures, which makes me think 18" of coverage is more than enough. Ideally, I'd like the film to cover half of the hood. So, if someone can please go out and measure the length of their hood for me--that is from the bottom edge of the hood (where it meets the bumper) to the windshield cowl area, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
I did a quick measurement and the Gen 3 Prius is roughly 29" deep in the center, tapering to about 27" deep on each side. I hope this helps.
Do this on all my cars. last one was $15 bucks on ebay! The hood is an E-Z DIY Mod. Can't see any reason to do the full hood? http://stores.ebay.com/rvinylinc/Youtube.html
Well, it depends on where the projectiles come from and at what angle they are shot out at. Some rocks kick up and hit your windshield, so it seems reasonable that some fly overtop your car to hit the schmoe behind you, others hit your windshield wipers, others hit anywhere on the hood, and lots hit the front bumper area.
Watched a guy do my '09 took him 20 min gave him $120bucks Just the hood Worth every penny! I'm sure the next guy that bought is happy! I would never try to do a full kit myself,Best for the pros.
