I have a Prius III with sunroof and nav system. On any given day, I count no more than about 10% of anecdotally observed III's with the sunroof. As the A/C sunroof thingy is one the options that makes the III a bit unique, I am surprised so few seem to have it. What's more, I don't even see that many package 4 Prius III's with the sunroof. However, the 4s as a whole seem pretty rare by my count. Anyone know: a) statistics on sunroof b) whether the option is gaining in popularity
I Have the option as well. Not sure how many have the option but sure is nice when trying to not use air (can't do that with any of my family in car, they all like the a/c on fulll blast!). I forget to turn the ac option on (would have been helpful with when we came back from golfing today). I had my 1st moon / sun roof in a 2002 Mercury Sable that this car replaced. I wasn't going to get another, but glad I did.
I've only seen maybe 5% of Gen IIIs w/ sunroofs here in the Boston area - anecdotal evidence, of course. There was a poll that was active six months ago or so that asked what options folks had - there was a low count there for sunroofs, too. Been thinking about starting a thread or social group for sunroof owners (like Blizzard Brigade, etc) but couldn't think of a catchy title.
Cute! I sure love this option on my III! In fact, it's the only reason I bought a III over a II. So the bluetooth option came as a wonderful surprise!
I have a III WITHOUT a sunroof. I wanted a sunroof but could not justify the added cost (really do not need NAV). Over all I would say that I see 10-15% with a sunroof of varying packages. I did see a III with a sunroof today in Barcelona Red...and it has a VERY funny story to go along with it!
All the top grades in Australia come with sunroof + solar panels with 15". Most are base grades that go to government or large corporations which have nothing much in it. I'm buying one with the sunroof and solar panels.
Where I am, I am the youngest person (29) I've ever seen with a prius, let alone with the sunroof and navi. Most (pretty much all) of the people I see here in central Florida who have priui are old people who get one because the mileage is awesome and they're too cheap to care about anything else with the car. They get it strictly for the mileage. The cars are bare boned stock model IIs that look like they just drove from the city manager's office. Few of them even have tinting.... in Florida, if you don't have tint, you're either driving a beater, or you're too damn cheap to care.
Navely, oh to be 29 again.... jfultz14976, i'm pretty cheap and was afraid of how the screen would hold up in our cold weather, but I went with it (over a IV). Pretty happy after a year... wish it would charge to hybrid battery when driving in sun....
Probably what you guys in the US get that we get is HUD which ties in with the Navigation to show the next turn when you've set a destination.
