HSI Bar Position power according to Scangauge

    I have observed that the very top of HSI Eco Bar (100%) is 25 hp when you increase throttle from less than 100% up to 100%

    If you bring the throttle down to 100%, from when you were in maxed in the power band (so this is going from 125% down to 100%), then the power reported is 30 hp. I have sustained this for a few seconds and repeated to make sure.

    Pretty strange behavior.

    It also likely depends on battery SoC; if the battery is lower than about 58%, the car will start to work harder to charge it, thus the power will be higher. However, the same amount of power might be going to the wheels in both cases. There are probably other factors in that display as well; it's certainly a very poor indicator of ICE RPMs, power, ignition timing, etc.

    What speed?

    When checking two years ago, I found this HSI bar condition varying considerably with speed, corresponding to drastically different RPM at 90 mpg than at 30 mph. And I suspect there are more factors rolled in to it.

    I'll have to investigate to see the amps drawn from the battery to see if it was negative. I don't believe it was but I will confirm.

    About 60 mph.

    I have re-studied this matter and the phenomenon is real, but my original conclusion as to why is not correct.

    I will repost my findings in a new thread.
