Thankfully, the drought isn't real. And thankfully, if something like this were to happen, Texas' secession from the Union will free up federal relief funds for other states. Everythings caused by global warming. Except there has been no warming in the USA for the past 100 years. U.S. Data Since 1895 Fail To Show Warming Trend - NYTimes.com The Russian drought was not caused by global warming either. Apparently there has been no temp rise in that region either. CO2 Science "the analysis of the observed 1880-2009 time series shows that no statistically significant long-term change is detected in either the mean or variability of western Russia July temperatures, implying that for this region an anthropogenic climate change signal has yet to emerge above the natural background variability." Thus, they say their analysis "points to a primarily natural cause for the Russian heat wave,"
The "Republic of Texas"..... dang! Has a nice ring to it doesn't it? They could bring back that goofy "Texas....it's like a whole nuther country!" ad campaign! And.....here's a bonus for you! While we're at it, we could split California into NOCAL and SOCAL, and we wouldn't have to change our flag.... Everybody wins!!! Well.....except maybe Governor Perry. Sorry Rick! No presidential run for you unless you get 'grandfathered in' on the presidental qualifications thing as outlined in the US Constitution (as amended-Article II, Section 1)
As long as South California gets the meth lab counties it has claimed and North California gets San Diego. The state ideological split is more coastal vs inland instead of North/ South.
Good eye on the date .I didnt notice that. Now prove temps in the USA have risen since the article was written.
Just a matter of time before we saw a post along these lines. Yeah, we're supposed to believe that this is all temporary, it's all happened before, nothing but natural variation, it'll all be OK in the end. And so on and so on. Know what I say? Not my problem. I don't live there. It's just another Darwin test. And/or, the trend is your friend. There have now been three tranches of research, rooted in the most basic aspects of atmospheric circulation, that tell us that as the globe warms up, the middles of the continents are likely to dry out. Too dumb/paranoid to believe that? Great! As the liveable areas on the globe shrink, it's great to see individuals commit to suicide, compared to the homicide that would otherwise occur. As the carrying capacity of the globe shrinks from climate change, anything that increases the chance that my kids survive, relative to others, is a good thing. So, you want to invest there, it just reduces the pressure on the real estate that I expect to survive the next century. I'll put my money where my mouth is, you do likewise, and our grandchildren will deal with the outcomes. Back when I was younger, I tried not to talk about the (e.g.) really nice National Monuments that I had visited, because I didn't want all the dummies to spoil them. Now, same thing. I hear the climate is just wonderful down South in (fill-in-the-blank). Pay no mind to this little dry spell. it'll pass. Hey, man, y'alll think global warming's a crock? Great! I hear Arizona is great place to retire. Florida's warm this time of year. Atlanta has a vibrant economy, you need to buy yourself a piece of that. Pay no attention to the models behind the screen, the ones suggesting expansion of desert areas from Mexico northward. Those are the spawn of "alarmists". Please, you and your children, invest heavily in those areas. Matzel tov. Best wishes.
I wouldn't call it a good eye for noticing. Rather, I'd say something else about critical reading and reasoning for not noticing something as fundamental as date and dataset timeframe.
Oh shut up. People have tried over and over, and all you do is dismiss fact and poop everywhere. It's about time we just ignore you and "others" on this matter. Unless you have some omnipotent powers where society would benefit from you understanding science and reason, there is no justification to try and "learn ya". If you do have omnipotent powers, apologies.
