oh geez, people aren't as stupid as liberalism says they are. I bought a pick-up in 04 because i wanted it and could afford it. i didn't "need" it per se, and i certainly didn't buy it because of any advertising professoinal.
Ahh here you go with your politics again. Tsk tsk Guess the trillions of dollars that go into advertising every year are pointless.
in my case, yes it the advertising was pointless. i'm sure it works enough of the time to make it worth it, for the same reasons mcdonalds always says "you want fries with that?" but it doesn't brainwash people across the board. I don't think it's fair to accuse the industry of making us think we need high HP unless you are willing to admit that the auto industry is making us think we need to drive hybrids. In short, did you buy a Prius because of the brilliance of Toyota advertising? I doubt it.
Love it! The last thing that Mopar made that came close to fuel efficient was the Omni, and that used a 1.3 VW motor with a quadrajet TB injection. (If my memories serves that is, can't remember that far back i had the car in highschool) it got in the 30's for MPG and gas was $0.76 a gal in 83. The new line up as advertised looks like more of the same with some styling added. Big deal!
Good Point, I buy a truck that fits my needs HP wise and a brand I know is worth my money. I'd never heard of a Prius until two weeks before I bought mine in 2008. Nor had I heard of Hybrid drive tech until then. I don't watch TV unless Its the news and flip past adds in publication to get to the articles. I'm not alone in this either I'm sure.
