When I got into my car to drive into work this morning I found that the HSI screen was very dim whenever the headlights are on. And as I drove into work, the screen got dimmer by the minute. The problem is concentrated to the HSI screen but I noticed that the speedometer was starting to dim as well by the time I arrived to work. Strangely, the screen is perfectly fine if the headlights are off. And yes, I did make sure the display brightness was turned all the way to the Max. Has anyone else had this issue? MB860 ?
if the picture is the dimmest condition, it looks normal to me when headlight is turned on... it's auto-dimming when parking-lights/headlights are turned on, especially if outside is very dark.
Methinks if you had the headlights on, then it was dark outside. As time went on, the day got brighter and the display looked dimmer as a result. If you turn the dial until it clicks, as fuzzy1 has mentioned, then the display will be at the same brightness as when the headlights are off.
Yeah, when I exited the car last night I think my knee "rolled down" the dial by accident. However, I don't remember hearing the click this morning when I turned the dial back up-- I will have to go try that and report back. Thanks.
Also check you don't have anything on the dash such as a newspaper which might slide around occassionally covering the sensor. (It's a little button sized sensor near the bottom of your windscreen).
Auto-dimming? Sensor? Not in US market cars. We get some things that the Rest Of the World doesn't. This is one of the things the ROW gets that we don't.
