Did you know that you can turn on the radio by pushing the band select button? I only found out by accident that it works that way.
That, and turning on the overhead map lights by pressing (your other post), are but 2 items contained in the owners manual. Worth a read--lots of good stuff in there.
It's too bad there isn't an alternate owners manual stripped of all the cautions, legalese and completely dumbed down to the point they are hard to follow instructions. I doubt it would be more than 30% as big as the regular owners manual and it would be easier to find useful information.
you should be able to turn it off by holding down the mode (or whatever it is on the genIII) button on the steering wheel.
you really should read the manuals... or finish reading them. there are a lot of little things like that to this car. did you know at speed (over 8mph) you can't switch the car into another gear? it goes to N. if you turn the car off without parking it, it will park it for you... the list goes on...
I think "do you know" is a good thread idea. Only: maybe just one thread, for any and all? The manual is a big, verbose document. Very easy to discover, and then forget things. Worth pencilling in such findings in on the back page I guess. One I've forgot: anyone recollect the auto-window relearn procedure for 3rd gen prius? What I mean is the one-touch up or down function. If the battery's disconnected it can be lost. I've been looking through the manual, no luck. Might have just read it on the internet, for that matter.
I know it's in the shop manual and think it's not required after the battery is disconnected, just after components like the window motor are replaced. From page 5423 in my .pdf manual, YMMV
