PHEV Prius officially listed on Toyota website starting at $32k and 87 mpge and 49 combine hybrid mpg
87 MPGe is the overall EV and HV blended: Manufacturer-estimated miles per gallon equivalent. Estimate includes consumption of electricity and gasoline energy in combined EV and hybrid mode. The Volt is rated 60 MPGe for the EV and HV composite. 94 MPGe in EV. 37 MPG in HV. The reason Prius PHV doesn't have pure EV MPGe is because it is blended plugin hybrid. Here is a sample EPA label:
That kills it for me. I was thinking of replacing our 2008 with the plug-in next year. We've recently moved to a small city. The 15 mile electric range would be perfect in a city that is mostly contained in it's 6 mile diameter. Still we'd have long distance capability. The 4 hour charge time was a big attraction. But a $32k price tag simply makes it a non-choice for us.
I wonder why they have the two different sized screens in the trim levels. Seems like that would effect alot of other related pieces in assembly (different dash mounts and things).
