Having had both, the Camry is definitely quieter and more comfortable (especially with Michelin Primacy tires!), but I do like the cargo capacity of the Prius 3rd gen. There was no appreciable trunk space in my 07 Camry Hybrid. I was thinking of getting another Camry, just for the quiet and comfort, but the 2012 looks like a Corolla (not that there's anything wrong with that). Just too angular and slab sided. That is why I am waiting for a test drive in the v. I hear they are quieter and more comfortable than the regular Prius, so that would be the obvious choice for cargo as well. Mileage is about the same, but probably actually better in the Pv.
or any 2012 Toyota hybrid since the CT, Prius, Prius v and TCH will have the VPNS. Again, it's not that loud and none of the other journalists knew it was even present on those vehicles.
Would trade our Prius in a heartbeat if the Camry had memory seats, mirrors, and steering wheel. Like the Prius and the MPG, but would trade 10 MPG for convenience.
The trunk in the 2012 Camry Hybrid is supposed be much better than 07-11, so you aren't giving up as much trunk space in the hybrid vs regular Camry as before.
The Camry may not get memory steering wheel in a long while. It requires a power adjustable steering wheel which I don't see making its way down to the midsize category any time soon.
It looks like the 2011+ Nissan Maxima have it as an option but it's sold as a more upscale car the the Altima. I think the previous gen (04-08 models) also had it available judging by some of the hits on maxima.org (where I used to be active).
I've thought of that , and also there may be some liability issues in the event of an accident and they find the VPNS disconnected. I am not one to break rules.
Yeah but like you said, it's one class above. Toyota does put class-leading features in the Camry from time to time (e.g. rear sunshade, SKS, rear vents, reclining rear seats, LED brakelights etc) but I'm not sure a power adjustable steering wheel is one that Toyota will venture in. They tried water-repellent windows on the Prius and that only lasted 2 years (a pity).
