Not our fault - other driver's fault - you can read about it and see pictures of my 09' Green Prius in the Gen II main forum... So we bought THIS last night! 2011 Blizzard Pearl Package II (Sorry I didn't go big...this was what I thought was reasonable for a car payment, the next step up was too large a jump). Would have loved a IV but I <3 this one!! I am in LOVE!!
Yep doing that now! Oh and there is NO lying about my height. hahaha. But I fit in the prius nicely, just need to crank up the seat though.
Hey, it's just like my car. It's OK to love this car. Heck, this old fart, former GM truck bigot loves his Prius. (I get no end of abuse from my GM truck friends - including one of my adult sons.)
Hope you don't miss the rear view camera! The seats are more comfy and the car has a bit more power-enjoy:rockon:
We are having an after market one in stalled on the GPS on board nav/radio touchscreen thingy. lol Replaces factory radio.
my wife walked out of appointment yesterday and tried to break in into a white GenIII, parked 3 cars down from hers. Oops, wrong one! GenIII looks really good in white and people buying them; most common color out there.
Around here, Prius are slowly becoming more common, I live in the land ruled by "the big 3"... and it is taking a while to catch on, they are harder to find around here and believe it or not, white is the least common color i have seen so far. Blue is the #1 most often, that I have seen. The other day in my parking garage there were 4 gen II 2004-2009's parked right next to each other, 3 blue and 1 tan. lol
it maybe regional? it gets pretty hot here in summer, so the white is more practical; as it doesnt heat up as much in sun. But I am bias, our last 6 cars were white BTW the Prius is one of the more common cars in national capital, perhaps long commutes and access to HOV lanes has something to do with it? our kids play "spot-the-prius" game and they usually end up in double digits.
Hopefully you got treated well by there insurance co? I also had a 2009 G2 for a year and a half! traded for a G3, I think the G3 is much improved.
Unfortunately, we were not treated well by AllState and while our insurance company, USAA, has been pretty good and cordial and emphatic... they are tight on the purse strings. I am just extremely glad that they (MY insurance company) backdated my Collision coverage to cover the difference of the underinsured driver or they were about to be prepared for a serious court battle since they had no tapes and no signature stating I declined it. I can't legally decline collision coverage when there is a lien holder. Period.
Hello! Absolutely beautiful car. I've been reading the forums for quite a few weeks and finally decided to register. May I ask you to expand on what you like/don't like on your 2009 vs 2011 please? I'm currently trying to figure out how much of a hybrid, so to speak, I can make happen (i.e. afford). Thank you very much in advance for any information! I'd love to have precisely what you have in your picture.
The ONLY things I don't like are that the package II's do not come with the backup cam and dash view like the 09 Package II's did. I am finding it difficult to adjust to driving with my L5 injury in my back to see out of the back of the car with no back up cam... it is going to cost my husband and I about $1100 for a touch screen radio/gps/back up camera combo with install - so its going to have to wait a little while... And there is no touch unlock access on the hatchback like my 09 package II had. AND --- no auto headlights in the 2011 (canada only) like in my 09 PII. I like the design of the 2011 better. I like the fact that ultimately I can put in my own dash cam and on board navigation for less than what buying a package III or IV would be at the dealership. (Doing this on your own in the 2009's opened you up to a LOT of technical interference inside of the dash and with the existing back up camera etc etc etc etc etc lol). Better sound system overall. No bass cracking at level 3 like on the PII 09 Prius. Digging the little spot that holds my purse.
Note that the 2012 will solve some of those issues. Unfortunately, none of those improvements affect the Model Two. a 2012 Prius Three will have a backup camera, 3-dr SKS and navigation with Entune (but will lose the JBL audio system) compared to the 2011 Three. Prius Four and up will have automatic headlights for 2012.
On a Pkg 2 (Gen III) the only work around for the sks problem is that you can program it to unlock all the doors and the hatch with one touch, I did it to mine and it helps.
Are there instructions on how to do this? I don't see a sensor back there just a rubber lift button... not like the grooved sensors on the driver's door handle...
