I'd also like to add I just received a phone call from my insurance company and for all of my troubles with USAA "accidentally" dropping my collision coverage and the crap we have had to go through... $500 deductible waived!
Sorry to hear of your loss and dealing with this accident. For the future you may want to look at Amica for insurance. Consumer reports rated them the highest and they are not very widely known. They have the best customer service. Just something to look into.
The only ting at this point I am really concerned about is price. We need to start shopping around - we went with USAA because they claim their prices cannot be beat and a lot of companies will not quote up against them. However, now we will have two cars on our policy with collision coverage (the expensive one) since we have two loans out now. Payments went from 104 (only prius with collision and the $50k liability on our old car we just sold)....to now possibly 197/mo.
Looked her up on NADA in clean retail and deducted from there based on mileage depreciation and three, count them, THREE hail dings. Even AllState offered me $18,000 before they realized "DERR!!!" that the guy only had $15k max coverage.
