Hey all! Just got my new 2011 Toyota Prius this past Monday! Love it! Get this, though... I live in Wisconsin (Fox Valley area), and it's begging to look like Winter around here. No snow, but this morning there were some minor patches of ice on the road. Well, today at lunch, I left my employer's parking lot and was stopped at a nearby intersection waiting for the green left turn light. I looked at my dashboard, and here the orange icy road indicator light was blinking...while I was stopped! This must be one smart car...thinking that I was hovering over ice or something??? LOL!!!
LOL! No, you likely pressed the brake hard at the stop thus activating the hill start assist (one beep and the light indicator). After a few seconds you will hear two beeps and the brakes will release the car. You can press the gas to release the brakes earlier. Often used on steep hills to start out without rolling backwards.
Interesting. I don't recall hitting the brake hard, but I guess anything is possible. Trying to be a cautious driver with my new car...unlike some other city drivers who like to weave in and out without using their blinkers...but I digress.
It doesn't take a lot. Just press with good pressure till the beep and light. Let go and it will stay put for a couple of seconds. Pretty cool stuff.
I seem to recall that on the gen II, there was a dash light that went on when the outside temp dropped to 36 degrees, is that also true of the Gen III-or was it even true for the Gen II?
Not on the GIII but I thought I read that there was a snowflake symbol on the GII when that happened, yes?
