Hi everyone, Well only a month in with the v and I got a letter asking me to renew my SiriusXM service after the three month trial ends. I do want to renew it, my question is does anyone know of any deals or preferential pricing? Or am I beholden to pay the prices offered in the mailer I received? I did some internet seaching but didn't find much. Also, our car salesperson mentioned that SiriusXM prices are rising in Jan so best to lock-in a better rate now. Thanks for any insight you have.
It is a sad song and dance routine, but it works. Call their customer service line (at 3 months) and tell them that you do not want to renew your subscription. When they ask why (and they will) state that it is too expensive. They will forward your call to the cancellation department (or some such dept) and they will ask you the same question. Give the same answer and they will offer to reduce your rate for a fixed length contract (say $99 over 12 months, or something like that). Voila! Lather rinse and repeat next year. They will automatically renew you (at the full rate) if you don't cancel, so you HAVE to make the call to cancel to get the better/reduced rate.
I just received their mailing begging me back for 6 months for around $25.00 I continue to ignore any offerings until Sirius becomes more like Pandora.
Always have them bill you. NEVER give them your credit card information because they just renew you and it's a mess straightening that out.
^Same goes with renewing Safety Connect. We paid with a check and not a credit card so they couldn't auto-renew us.
Good call on the pay by check. I did the five month promotion a couple of times with my Camaro. Had what I thought was a extra payment on my cc during the first five month promotion. Finally canceled last month. Wife drives the Prius, do not see myself paying for SiriusXM again.
This doesn't answer your question, but I bought my 2010 Prius in Toronto July, 2010. It had a 6 month free trial for Sirius XM Canada. No one ever contacted me asking me to renew at the end of the trial. I even tried to contact them with no luck -- my VIN was not listed on their website and Toyota Canada was not shown as a Sirius partner. So I thought, oh well, it's going to expire in January 2011. But here it is in February 2012 and I'm still receiving Sirius broadcasts loud and clear, free of charge! LOL! Has this happened to anyone else? I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop when I get an invoice for $400 from Sirius for a subscription that I never ordered, but they seem to be so disorganized that they may never find me.
I would recommend just going straight to their Cancellation Department and bypass the normal channels. This is just a choice on their auto phone service. Like Codyroo said, just tell them the normal rates are too expensive and they should immediately offer you the 1/2 price rate or something comparable. The Cancellation Department seems to be in the good ol' US while the other customer services seems to be in some foreign country with heavy accents and are difficult to understand.
Don't worry about them billing you. They CAN NOT bill you for delivered past service; it would be called "negative billing" and those kind of practices are illegal in Canada. Enjoy the music
Our XM free trial is above to expire. We have been receiving at least one call every day (not answered). Today, the wife answered the call thinking it was someone else and they offered to renew for 6 months at $4.99 per month. I'm still not interested and told them so. I suppose the phone will ring again either later today or tomorrow with a better offer. If not, good as I am not fond of paying to listen to the same music I can listen to for nada.....
I never received any calls but do get their junk mail for reduced rates & e-mails for the periodic free trial periods. Another free trial period covering 60 channels runs through the 1st half of February. I give the USB drive a rest when the radio is free.
