You can get the backstory here http://priuschat.com/forums/dealers-pricing/99753-just-bought-v3-way-under-msrp-7.html Just wanted to update everyone and let them know there are deals on this car to be had. I got my Prius 2011 at a great price... and when I shopped around for my Prius V3 I got an even better price then what the dealer i worked with before was willing to get me... His loss... someone else's gain... If your in the So Cal area PM me i have some great dealers I can connect you with... So after a lot of negotiating and back and forth (before i ever stepped foot in the dealership), I found a fleet salesman that was willing to play ball, once the price was negotiated and I asked other dealers about it they said they wouldn't even touch a deal like that because they were losing money. On Sat I went in with the invoice in-hand although the dealer never even asked for it... wrote the check for that amount and left with the car... it was honestly the least painful experience i've ever had at a car dealer (keeping in mind i bought another car a few months ago from a different dealer) Suggestions when buying : 1. be patient 2. be educated 3. be firm 4. don't waste your time or theirs 5. be willing to walk away I can elaborate if anyone would like...
Totally agree with #5, but also feel #2 is tops; you'll never get or feel screwed by the dealer if you go in knowing the exact numbers you shoud be paying. Dealers pray for the weak. Dealers prey on the weak.
Also, if you're like me and don't like to waste time at the dealerships you can shop online (by phone actually) via the internet/fleet sales dept. I just called around and asked for bottom line price. When I got one that I liked I kept calling to see if other dealerships would price match. When one does/doesn't then I know what to go off of. Haggling (if any) over the phone. No time wasted at the dealership.
I did the same... just through email... no time spent on the phone @J5 Dealers pray for the weak. Dealers prey on the weak. I like that
