I saw in the online 2010 Prius II with 76k miles in it, is it worth buying the Prius? My concern is that maybe I spent a lot money on repairs later on. Pls pls pls help
If the price is right then it's a good car to have. There have been less problems with the Prius than the Chevy you probably have now.
I have 89,000 miles on my 2009, it has blown 2 tail light bulbs I replaced the wipers once, and tires twice, and I have done the scheduled maintenance. (including a transaxle fluid change at 60,000 miles not on Toyota's schedule but recommended here) I expect serious routine maintenance at 120,000 miles, about next March. Plugs. PVC Valve, ATF again, perhaps more fluid changes. What are your concerns?
Price is $14,225....do you think in the long run I won't be having lots of problem in terms of repairs and maintenance?
Asking price is 14,225...do u think it's a good price? My friends told me that I could get a good car with that price
BIG concern is that I I may spent more money in repairs and maintenance. And I've heard that if you go for repairs and do maintenance it has to in the dealer because reg mechanic can't do a for hybrid is more technical
2010 was a very long model year so depending on when the car was made the mileage might not be as high as it sounds. Register the VIN at Toyota Owners Official Website: Service Coupons, Owners Manuals, Service Scheduling and More to get the dealer service history. As gas prices rise Prius prices will firm up, new & used. Some things are best left to the dealer while other things can be done by anyone. Compared to a conventional car the Prius needs less maintenance. If you are worried about the hybrid components they are warranted for 10 years/150,000 miles in CARB states. I expect my brakes to last 100,000 miles. I have 45,000 miles on the original tires. It's about time for new wiper blades.
Fear is an issue, yes. If they would try, most mechanics would find themselves right at home. http://www.cartalk.com/content/mechanics-files Some Prius quirks: Treat dead 12 volt batteries very seriously, replace them if they fail. Many horror stories here begin "I was jumping my 12 volt battery every day..." Any brake work that needs a fluid change is best left to a dealer. It is hard but not impossible to get air out of the coolant lines. If you need 'hybrid' work SAMMY?s Auto Electric Service Inc. should be 'close' to you. Perhaps other Chicago Prius owners can make recommendations. I really do recommend changing the Transaxle fluid every 60,000 miles with Toyota's WS ATF.
The car was made in Japan and base on autocheck the car was bought in April 2010...so basically the car was bing used for less than a year and has 76k already.. Is it still worth to buy the car?
April 2010 to March 2012 is 2 years, I had 60,000 on mine in two years. Some folks buy a Prius because they need to travel and wish to do so as efficiently as possible.
I just bought 2010 with 45K. I brought to toyota dealer to get inspection before i signed the contract...
My 2010 (purchased July 2009) has 103,000 miles on it. I've replaced one set of tires, a couple sets of wiper blades, two license plate lamps, headlamps. Brakes are still 75% or better. I've only had scheduled maintenance performed on it. Other than interior squeaks and rattles and a couple dings outside, it's perfect. I would make sure the car is up to date on service and recalls, but beyond that I'd go for it. You won't find a better car for the price. M.

That would be a good price from a price only standpoint. At least here in Texas. I am looking at a loaded prius 10 for about 10K more. It still has 45,000 miles on it... still very high. It looks like an earlier posted sent a link to where you can try to find more info on it... but that sounds liked a stellar. deal. If your not in for the long haul... your probably not on this forum...
Lots of good advice. IMO this is nice offer. The question is how many miles do you think you will put on each year, and how many years you intend to keep it.
Did u went to the dealer to change your tranxasle fluid? And how much is the cost? Also any problem with your battery yet?
Yes, I like my dealer very much and do all I can there. $109 at 60,000 miles. It is a straight forward drain and refill. I drive so much my battery is being coddled by the computers all day, so I have no issues. I feel it is folks who don't drive often who have battery issues.
Keeping for good is relative. Based on what I have researched if you are concerned about future repair costs given the 15k a year I would guess you could get 3-5 years easily perhaps. Added bonus if they have maintance records.
I have a 2010 Prius II , I would buy it , that is a good price. Change the transaxle fluid and check everything else , you should be good to 200K mi without any major problems. Very reliable cars. Make sure all the required maintenance has been done, basically engine oil changes every 10kmi. Check tires for uneven wear. Drive it and see if you like it.
