My 2010 prius had stock halogen projectors. As many of us did, we installed aftermarket hid bulbs into them. Why is the cut off pattern so bad? The quintessential projector is commonly known as the Acura TSX projector. Its cut off as well as many other cars that come with stock projectors with hid kits already from factory look like this Is it because our projectors are specifically made for only halogen bulbs? Do I have to retrofit an acura tsx projector to get the same results?
I think you misunderstood. Just because the 2010+ Prius or the 2011+ CT come with stock projectors meant for halogen bulbs doesn't mean they will have this amazing cut off pattern when you put an hid kit into it. Ive seen many photos of after market his kits here. And they all have hot spots and severe bleeding. I want to fix this without retrofitting actual, keyword "actual" hid projectors
Most of the sharp colorful cutoff lines you see are produced with clear lenses instead of the frenzel lens that comes on many OEM projectors AND most importantly, the Prius is using a halogen projector instead of an HID projector. If you don't like the results then try your hand at retrofitting. I don't know anyone that had done it with a GenIII. GoldenPiano may have some info if you look I up his headlight threads.
Care to provide a pic of bad cutoff pattern you're getting? Perhaps it's aimed too low and can be adjusted?
Hey, stop posting here and work on getting those photos of your new ride off your cell so we can see them
LOL I'll get to it. I have a long day of yard work and fixing little things on my GenII so I can deliver it to my friend this week.
